First seminar

I meet up with a few of the others in the café next to the new law
building. Coffee to calm the nerves. I discover that 'the new law
building' isn't it's proper name and it's actually called All Saints
West. "So that's West is it?" I think to myself. We meet from 3-5pm,
break for 30 minutes and a sandwich then go over to the next part of the
session, 5:30 til 8:30pm in Geoffrey Manton [who he?]. The sessions
cover 'Developing your career as a Freelance Writer in Education'.
Mandy Coe & Anne Caldwell run the sessions. I find the sessions very
useful and am particularly interested in the 'Before you start' section
of the evening where we cover motivation, our expectations, balancing
running workshops with keeping up with ones own writing and the
connection between the two. I'm surprised to see how well attended it
is and then realise that in some regard these people are both my
colleagues and my competition.
